Didactic Models
Didactic models fundamentally support crystallography and solid-state physics courses by visualizing teaching content which is challenging to just verbally explain or visualize by two-dimensional viewgraphs. The model size amounts to several 10 cm in all directions in space. Thus, these models are preferably used as demonstration objects. The didactic models are classified into the major fields of crystallography, viz., geometric and structural crystallography, crystal defects, crystal chemistry, crystal physics, and thermodynamics (crystal growth). These major fields were part of the crystallography studies at Humboldt University of Berlin existing till 1995.
